Session Ends Mixed

Tuesday’s session closed out mixed. The Dow and S&P 500 shed some points, while the Nasdaq added fractional gains. Action was mixed on word of an impasse between Greece and private investors in debt talks, which brought on default concerns. Meanwhile, crude oil shed 63 cents to settle at $98.95 a barrel. On another note, companies such as Stryker, Travelers, and McDonald’s released a variety of earnings results. Apple reported impressive quarterly numbers after the closing bell. The iPad innovator earned $13.06 billion, or $13.87 a share, up from $6 billion, or $6.43, a year ago. Looking ahead, comments from the latest FOMC meeting and monthly pending home sales will see the light of day tomorrow.
