John W. Dickson III, CPA, CFP®, CVA, brings more than two decades of experience to Henssler CPAs & Advisers, LLC, an affiliate company of Henssler Financial.

Mr. Dickson joined the firm in January 2014 as a Tax Manager. His experience is concentrated in tax planning and compliance for corporations and partnerships, working with closely held entities in the professional services, manufacturing, technology, transportation, construction, and real estate industries.

In early 2019, Mr. Dickson acquired an ownership interest in the Henssler Financial Tax & Accounting Division and P.T. Henssler CPA, LLC. The tax division was rebranded as Henssler CPAs & Advisers, LLC to better describe the breadth of services provided to clients.

Mr. Dickson aims to develop long term relationships with clients by emphasizing a conversational approach for adding value for clients. By taking advantage of ongoing tax law changes and tax planning strategies, Mr. Dickson assists clients with minimizing their overall tax burden as well as addressing the individual tax needs as a closely held entity owner. Mr. Dickson analyzes financial circumstances and helps clients manage risk by giving relevant perspectives that lead to informed decisions. As a valued business adviser, Mr. Dickson works with his clients beyond just tax compliance as a strategic partner.

As a Certified Valuation Analyst accredited through the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts, Mr. Dickson is particularly qualified to provide business valuation services. His extensive training and his experience in accounting for small businesses and financial analysis provide Mr. Dickson with an excellent background for dealing with the complexities involved in providing valuation services.

As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Certificant, Mr. Dickson has an expertise that allows him to execute customized financial plans that support his clients’ unique and complex needs.

Prior to joining Henssler, Mr. Dickson was a Senior Tax Manager with two Atlanta accounting firms. He has also worked in the corporate tax department of a national retail corporation, where he was responsible for the preparation and filing of state and local income tax returns, and the resolution of state income tax issues resulting from business operations.

Mr. Dickson also lends his expertise to multiple non-profit foundations, serving as Treasurer and board member for Ascensa Health at St. Jude’s Recovery Center, which provides behavioral health care for addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders, and as a board member for the Exceptional Foundation of Atlanta, which aims to create inclusive, accessible, affordable programs & services for adults with disabilities.

Mr. Dickson earned both a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Accountancy from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He is a Certified Public Accountant, a Certified Valuation Analyst, and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Certificant.
