A Green Friday

Indices ended well into green territory on Friday. Cisco, Walt Disney, and Bank of America stood out among advancers on the Dow. Brands moved up amid mixed economic data. Durable goods orders jumped up last month. The Commerce Department said orders for goods designed to last several years rose 3.8% in November. The results exceeded an expected 2% upswing. Excluding cars, orders rose 0.3%. Economists had forecast a 0.5% increase. In a separate report, the Commerce Department said personal income and spending in November both edged up 0.1%, which was shy of estimates of 0.2% and 0.3% growth respectively. Looking elsewhere, new home sales climbed to a seven-month high in November. Hitting 315,000 at an annualized rate, sales topped the 313,000 forecast by economists. Additionally, October sales levels were revised to a rate of 307,000.
