A Record Finish

Indices closed at record high levels on Friday. Caterpillar led Dow advancers while energy, materials and industrials brands boosted the S&P 500. Meanwhile, crude oil jumped 1.6% today to settle at $53.86 per barrel. On another note, consumer confidence is on the wane so far this month. In a preliminary reading, the University of Michigan's consumer sentiment index hit 95.7, versus expectations of 98.5. Looking ahead, earnings reports are due next week from companies such as Teva Pharmaceuticals, Noble Energy, AIG and Cisco Systems.
